Tuesday Morning
Today I was able to make it to the SICU in time for rounds with the SICU team. This was particularly good as I got an opportunity to discuss all the aspects of my dad's healthcare. I won't go into all the details here, but the bottom line is that his pneumonia seems to be clearing up nicely, and he is being put on a lighter antibiotic for that. He still is very waterlogged from all the fluids he has recieved, but they will continue to diurese him with a goal of removing 1L of excess fluid per day. Also, he will remain on propofol and intubated until his lungs have more or less fully cleared up. This has several advantages in that he may be more comfortable sedated, he cannot aspirate anything into his lungs while intubated, and he can't knock off the intubation tube like he was his oxygen canulas and masks every 10 seconds. His blood pressure remains poorly controlled, but they are increasing his metoprolol to the maximum dose which should bring it under better control. Thank you everyone for all the love and support.
